I’ve been going a bit Twitter crazy recently, following more and more groups and people every day. And to keep up with this madness, I’ve been trying out those lists that seem so necessary for organizing. I’m only following about 60 people and already I need those lists.
How did people every get by without LISTS?!
My head is spinning with tweets and links to articles and videos and pictures. My eyes are rolling in the back of my head just trying to deal with all the information I’m absorbing. I mean, information was always at my fingertips with the internet. But now, it seems like information has already surpassed my ever-shortening attention span. And with rumors that Google may be factoring in the speed of a website when calculating search rankings, I’ll be finding information even faster. Where did I find that link? TWITTER!
It’s just getting so easy. A question pops into my head. I google it. It gets answered in seconds. A more complicated question? That might take longer, or I may just find a source, read as much as I care to read, and then move on to the next carcass to feast upon. A thought pops into my head? I tweet it. Or, if my attention span can handle it, I blog.
Technology is turning me into a speed demon, browsing at the speed of high speed internet and getting frustrated at loading times that exceed 2 seconds. Seriously. I clicked one of my bookmarks to read something today, and after 2 seconds, I clicked something else before it even loaded. TWO SECONDS and you’ve already lost my interest.
It’s a miracle that I can stillĀ read an entire book.
