O-ba-ma O-ba-ma O!
Just got back from a huge rally in downtown Richmond for Obama. Saw him, heard him speak (as well as the mayor of Richmond, Tim Kaine, and Mark Warner, but who cares about them? OBAMA!), was totally awesome.
The Richmond Coliseum was a completely full house. There were at least 14,000 people or more packed into this little place, cheering, doing the wave, and generally being loud. Just about every seat was full, but people were still crowded around the stage where Obama was speaking and in front of the entrances to all the sections. I got up to go to the bathroom and saw security people turning away big crowds outside. There just wasn’t enough room for them all!
We started waiting in line around 7:30 and were let in at 10:15. Obama didn’t speak until about 1, but it was well worth the wait. This was definitely a day that will stay with me for a long, long time. I want to be able to look back and say “Yes, I saw that. I was there. I heard President Obama speak.” If I had never moved from Canada to Virginia, I would never have had this opportunity.
I’ve never felt so proud to be American.
